The California Coastal Commission (CCC) is a non-profit that supports education programs, clean up efforts and restoration projects to protect our state’s magnificent ocean and coastline. The Whale Tail license plate, sponsored by the CCC, gives drivers a way to contribute to the preservation of priceless resources of California’s coast and ocean. To help raise awareness, the CCC came to us to create a campaign that would engage audiences and encourage them to purchase a license plate to help conserve our ocean and coastlines. Excited to bring our creativity and passion to this worthy cause, we opted to produce a unique spot, radically different from previous CCC campaigns. We created a fully-animated 30-second spot requiring story development, multiple forms of animation and custom character creation. The result? A story-driven, animated piece about a young girl on a road trip with her family along the coast sure to capture the hearts and minds of audiences.
